Notre Dame STEM faculty receive Highly Cited Researcher recognition

Kyle Bibby, professor of civil and environmental engineering and earth sciences, and Prashant V. Kamat, the Reverend John A. Zahm Professor of Science in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, have been named to Clarivate’s 2023 list of Highly Cited Researchers (HCR).

Researchers selected by Clarivate, a global analytics company, have authored multiple highly cited papers that rank in the top 1% by citations for their fields.

Clarivate identified Bibby and Kamat as having “cross field impact”— both contributed multiple highly cited papers in several different fields.

Bibby’s research focuses on microbial water quality and microbial communities in the built and natural environments. In particular, he investigates the ways in which wastewater systems can be used as a tool for measuring and tracking infectious diseases. Bibby directs the Genomics & Environmental Research in Microbiology (GERM) Lab.

Kamat’s scientific contributions span several fields, including nanotechnology, semiconductors, photochemical processes, solar energy conversion, and solar fuels. His lab specializes in nanostructure architectures and energy conversion processes. Kamat, who also holds a concurrent position in Notre Dame’s Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, has been on the highly cited researcher list each year since 2014.
