Please join the Environmental Change Initiative for a virtual seminar presented by Hirotaka Sakaue, Associate Professor of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame.

The title of his talk is "Luminescent Imaging for Environmental Flow in Spatiotemporal Manner."

REGISTER FOR THE SEMINAR

Abstract: A luminescent imaging is introduced for measuring environmental flows. By using the light emission from a luminescent molecular probe, spatiotemporal information of a fluid flow can be captured. The presentation focuses on the fundamental principle of the luminescent imaging and its features for an environmental flow measurement. Some examples in the flow measurement are also given.

Bio: Dr. Hirotaka Sakaue is an associate professor at Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, University of Notre Dame. He had spent over ten years at Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) as a researcher before joining Notre Dame. He received his BS in Biomolecular Engineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan, in 1996, and MS and PhD in Aeronautics and Astronautics, Purdue University in 1999 and 2003, respectively.
