Moh Aboelnour
Dr. Moh Aboelnour is an Assistant Research Professor at the University of Notre Dame’s Environmental Change Initiative (ECI). He received his Ph.D. in Agricultural and Biological Engineering from Purdue University. His research focuses on hydrologic modeling, watershed science, and climate adaptation, with particular emphasis on groundwater–surface water interactions, flood resilience, and water quality in human-impacted watersheds. His work integrates hydrological modeling, geospatial analysis, and remote sensing to investigate how land-use change, climate variability, and management practices influence water resources across watershed systems.
At Notre Dame, Dr. Aboelnour contributes to interdisciplinary projects that combine hydrological modeling, artificial intelligence, and community engagement to support sustainable watershed management. He is a key contributor to the CLEAR Watersheds project (Community-Led Environmental AI for Resilient Watersheds), which develops decision-support tools that integrate hydrologic modeling with stakeholder knowledge to improve flood resilience, water quality, and conservation outcomes across the St. Joseph River Basin and the Great Lakes region.
His work emphasizes co-production with communities, partnering with local governments, conservation districts, farmers, and nonprofit organizations to translate scientific insights into practical strategies for watershed stewardship and climate adaptation.
Outside of work, Moh enjoys spending time with his family and daughters, running, and playing soccer.
