Notre Dame on the Prairie
We made a prairie!
Last year, Biology PhD student, Max Scheel his colleagues created a pocket prairie on campus, which now serves as an ecology education site and an official monarch butterfly waystation. Come learn about this project and the importance of tallgrass prairies with Max Scheel and the Environmental Humanities Initiative.
We will meet in the Reading Room in Jordan Hall for a brief presentation by Max, and then head outside to check out the prairie and its many inhabitants.
If you're feeling inspired, we would love for you to contribute to EHUM's poetry series: The Species of Notre Dame: Poems for Our Lady's More-Than-Human Community.
Light refreshments will be served.
