Doug Tallamy: "Homegrown National Park" Keynote

On Sunday, September 15th, acclaimed author and professor Douglas Tallamy will give a keynote on "Start a New Habitat: Homegrown National Park." Tallamy, whose groundbreaking book "Nature's Best Hope" sparked a national movement around restoring local ecological networks, will inspire our community to transform their residential landscapes into flourishing biodiverse sanctuaries.
Tallamy’s presentation is being sponsored and supported by many groups in the area, including our chapter of Wild Ones, The North Chapter of the Indiana Native Plant Society, South Bend-Elkhart Audubon Society, Notre Dame Environmental Change Initiative, and many others.
Drawing upon decades of academic expertise, Tallamy has become one of the most authoritative and engaging voices for empowering homeowners and nature enthusiasts to "start a new habitat" in their backyards. His keynote will provide actionable tips and insights from his upcoming book on how to choose regionally appropriate native plants that can create vital food sources and nesting ground for struggling pollinator and wildlife populations.
The presentation will be held at the Corbette Family Hall in the Downes Ballroom at the University of Notre Dame from 2 PM to 4 PM. There will also be educational booths from various sustainability organizations available to the attendees starting at 1:30 PM. Admission is free, although tickets will be required.
